ABC - Network that Homer tried to sell his Simpsons demo to before Fox bought it (according to Behind The Laughter).

ACADEMIC ALERT - Warning system invented by Principal Skinner, whereby your parents don't have to wait until Report Card time to punish you.

ACHY-BREAKY PELVIS - Illness which Homer was disappointed to find out that he didn't have.

ACME - Brand of police trap used to try and trap a giant rat that Wiggum believed to be loose in the Springfield Mall.

ACNE GREASE CO - The company that muscled Homer out of his grease business.

ADAM AND ADAM - One of Springfield's many X-rated clubs.

ADJUSTING YOUR SELF-O-STAT - Video made by Brad Goodman.

ADULT EDUCATION ANNEX - "We take the 'dolt' out of A-dolt education". Provides classes such as: How To Eat An Orange; How To Chew Tobacco and Funk Dancing For Self-Defence.

AEROSMITH - Popular rock band that played at Moe's Tavern during the era of his money spinning drink the Flaming Moe. Top-class Aerosmith songs include Pink and Don't Wanna Miss A Thing, as well as the classic Crazy.

AGATHA CHRISTIE'S TEN TRITE TALES - Chief Wiggum's crime-solving reference guide.

AGE OF HEROES SANDWICH SHOP - Situated within the Springfield Museum Of Natural History.

AGNES SKINNER - Loving (if somewhat over-protective), mother of Principal Skinner. Doesn't like him talking to other women on the telephone, and also doesn't like him going through tunnels because of what it metaphorically symbolises. Together, they enjoy Friday - silhouette night. Agnes occasionally dates Superintendent Chalmers, and was once involved in a relationship with Comic Book Guy.

AH FUDGE! - Local chocolate factory, makers of Ah Fudge! Milk Chocolate. Was once visited by a Springfield Elementary School field trip.

AH FUDGE! MILK CHOCOLATE - Make at the Ah Fudge! factory.

AIR DELAWARE - Airline company which would have took the Simpsons to Delaware if Homer would have paid their airport tax.

AJAX STEEL MILL - Where Homer took Bart to stop him turning gay. Of course, the steel mill not only turned out to be gay itself, but it is also a lively homo night spot called The Anvil.

AK - Name of one of the islanders Homer met when he became a missionary.

AKIRA - Japanese gentleman who works at The Happy Sumo restaurant, and teaches karate at the Springfield Martial Arts Academy in his spare time.

AL - Barney's uncle.

AL SIMMONS - One of the many workers at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant.

ALABAMANIA - One of the many shows playing when Bart, Milhouse, Martin and Nelson visited Branson.

ALEX WHITNEY - Popular, rich new pupil at the school. Enjoys mobile phones, credit cards and dances. Voiced by Friends star Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe).

ALIENS - Many of these have been spotted in various episodes, the most common being Kang & Kodos. One alien caused so much of a stir that X-Files stars Mulder and Scully were called.

ALKALI FLATS OF THE SPRINGFIELD BADLANDS - The location of the civil defence shack where Krusty once broadcast via the emergency broadcast network.

ALL NIGHT ARCADE - One of the many places that Bart and Milhouse visited when they were high on a squishie-bender.

ALL PETS GREAT AND CHEAP - Pet shop that houses a parrot that Homer likes to argue with.

ALLEGRA HAMILTON - Actress who plays the parts of Sister Bernadette and Roxy Monoxide on It Never Ends.

ALLEN GINSBERGERS - On the menu at Grease's Cafe.

ALLISON TAYLOR - Grade-skipping new student at Springfield Elementary School who was, at first, a rival to Lisa. But once Lisa got to know her, they soon became friends.

ALWAYS DO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT BART SAYS - The message on the card that Homer keeps in his pocket.

AM SPRINGFIELD - TV breakfast show, hosted by Kent Brockman.

AMALGAMATED PORNOGRAPHY - Sponsors of one of the drag cars at the Springfield Dragway.

AMBER DEMPSEY - Professional Junior Miss beauty pageant winner, who Lisa managed to beat to the Springfield title. Unfortunately for Lisa, Homer filled out her entry form wrong, and so Amber had the title restored to her.

AMERICA'S WANG - Florida. Although, they prefer you call it "The Sunshine State".

AMERICAN BREAST ENTHUSIAST - One of the many magazines that can be found at the Springfield Air Force Base.

AMERICATOWN - Restaurant in Tokyo that the family visited whilst on holiday.

AMORIA PHLEBITIS - Illness which the school nurse believed Bart once had. Of course, he was putting it on. If you're interested, the symptoms are: sharp stabbing pains in the stomach; numbness in the arms; and temporary loss of vision.

AMWAY - Latest product that Gill is (unsuccessfully) trying to sell. Stooped so low as to try and sell it at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

AMY - Missionary that Homer took over from when he was on the run from PBS.

AN AFTERNOON WITH EARNEST HEMMINGWAY - Book that Martin did a report on for Mrs Krabappel's class.

AND THAT'S THE END OF THAT CHAPTER - Catchphrase of Police Cops' Homer Simpson.

ANDY - Name of Australia's Prime Minister.

ANDY WILLIAMS PRESENTS GLEN CAMPBELL - One of the many shows that one can see in Branson.

ANG LEE - Director of the Party Posse's first video "Drop Da Bomb".

ANGEL - A skeleton found by Lisa on an archaeological dig was mistaken for an angel by the townspeople. It turned out to be an elaborate publicity stunt by the new Heavenly Hills Mall. See also, The End Will Come At Sundown.

ANIMAL - Octopia stage name for one of Apu & Manjula's kids.

ANIMAL ASSISTANTS - Organisation from where Homer got Mojo. "As felt in Braille Weekly".

ANITA BATH - One of the many fake names used to confuse Moe on his first day of teaching at the school.

ANNETTE - Squishie lady who Apu once had an affair with.

ANNIE LEIBOVITZ - Photographer who took photos of Reverend Lovejoy.

ANOOP - One of the Nahasapeemapetilon children.

ANTARTICA - Place where Bart once called to test which way the water goes.

ANTHONOSKI - One of the many residents of the Springfield Retirement Castle.

ANTON LUBCHENKO - Springfield U's star American Football player. Was once run-over by Homer, but thanks to Bart's healing powers, still managed to score the winning kick. Majored in communications.

APHRODITE INN - Very un-aptly named hotel that Troy and Selma stayed in on their honeymoon.

APOO - How Homer once spelled Apu.

APPLIANCE ZONE - Local shop where the Simpsons bought their Carnivale TV.

APRIL FLOWERS - One of the names by which Princess Kashmir is known. The other is Shawna Tifton.

APU NAHASAPEEMAPETILON - The operator of the Springfield branch of the Kwik-E-Mart. He has been shot in repeated robberies, nearly causing him to miss work. Is married to Manjula, and has 8 kids with her. Has the dangerous habit of selling out-of-date food (mainly to Homer).

APU'S VEGETARIAN CHILI - One of the many stalls at the Springfield Chili Cook-Off.

ARISTOTLE AMADOPOLIS - Greek owner of the Shelbyville Nuclear Power Plant. Hangs out at the Springfield Heights Millionaire's Club.

ARMIN TANZARIAN - Principal Skinner's real name - as revealed in the worst-written episode in the history of Television.

ARNIE PIE - Helicopter reporter for Channel 6 News.

AROUND THE WORLD NEWS - Situated in the Springfield Mall.

ART IN AMERICA - Magazine read by Homer, well, when he was an artist, anyway.

ARTIE ZIFF - Marge's high school sweetheart, who was named Prom King to Marge's Queen. Once offered Homer $1m to sleep with Marge.

ARTHUR FORTUNE - The world's most-loved billionaire, owner of 112 Fortune Megastores. In the past he has: climbed Niagara Falls; knocked out Muhammad Ali; mated 2 male pandas; and boogie-boarded down Mount Everest.

ASA GLICK - Mrs Glick's brother. Was killed in the Great War - he held a grenade too long.

ASHLEY GRANT - Local student who accused Homer of sexual harassment after he picked a gummy Venus de Milo off her ass.

ASSASSINS - Expensive trainers owned by Homer, but ripped-up by Santa's Little Helper. Their marketing slogan is: "Join the conspiracy", they include: velcro straps; a water pump in the tongue; built-in pedometer; reflective sidewalls; and mini licence plates.

ASSBOX - Association of Springfield Semi-Pro Boxers. It's members include: Switchyard Sullivan; Boxcar Fritz; Snuffy; Manny The Mooch; Soupcan Sam; and Boxcar Ira.

ASSORTED HORSE PARTS - One of the disgusting products that the kids are fed at school - "now with more testicles"!

ASTRID WELLER - Owner of the "Louvre: American Style" art gallery who convinced Homer to become an artist.

ASTRO-HEIST GEMINI 3 - A poster for this film hangs in Troy McClure's room.

AT 500 - Auto-dialler invented by Professor Frink, that Homer used in a Springfield-wide scam. See also: Happy Dude.

AUNT GLADYS - Related to Marge, but died a while back. Homer once described her as "the dog-faced woman".

AWFUL SCHOOL IS AWFUL RICH - Headline which appeared in the Springfield Shopper after the school struck oil. Skinner claimed that the first "awful" was unrelated to the rest of the story.

AY CARUMBA - Popular phrase of surprise used mainly by one Bart Simpson, which, coincidentally, was his first word, uttered when he saw his parents making out.

AYN RAND SCHOOL FOR TOTS - Baby school which Maggie once briefly attended.

AZTEC THEATRE - Springfield's local cinema, also the place where Homer and Larry Burns hid out after their whole phoney kidnapping escapade.
