MAUDE FLANDERS - Late wife of Ned and mother of Rod & Todd who died in a freak accident involving Homer Simpson and a T-Shirt gun. Unbeknown to her, Homer was her secret admirer. Was killed-off after the actress who did her voice (Maggie Roswell), demanded more money. The producers of the show fired Maggie and asked Jan Hooks (voice of Apu's wife, Manjula), to take over the role of Maude Flanders. Eventually, the producers decided that the voice difference was too great to continue, and thus decided to kill-off the character Maude.

Has a massive, never-ending crush on Lisa Simpson.
