WATERGATE HOTEL - Name of the hotel that the Simpsons stayed-in when Lisa was invited to a literary final in Washington. Bart ran-up a room service bill of over $290!

WAVEWALKER - One of the many brilliant rides at Mt Splashmore.

WAYLON JENNINGS AND MADAM - One of the many shows playing when Bart, Milhouse, Martin and Nelson visited Branson.

WAYLON SMITHERS - Mr Burns' right-hand-man. Was once arrested for shooting Mr Burns, although he didn't actually do it. When released, he sparked a frenzy in Springfield by offering $50,000 for the assassin's capture - dead or alive. Is Springfield's biggest collector of Malibu Stacy. See also: queer.

WAX LIPS - Apparently, it's the candy of 1000 uses.

WAYNESPORT - Town where Larry Burns lives.

WEE CARE - Child safety company set-up by Homer.

WEE MONSIEUR - Kids' clothes store in the Springfield Mall, where Marge buys Bart's clothes from. Also, where Lisa once took Nelson shopping.

WEIGHT LOSS THROUGH LABORIOUS SEX - One of the many sex books sold in Springfield. Sounds like a good method to me.

WELCOME TO FLANDERS COUNTRY - Slogan that once adorned Flanders' doormat.

WENDELL - Student at Springfield Elementary School. Doesn't have a good stomach, often gets sick and queasy at the slightest of things.

WENDY WINDBAG - One of the many names that Bart suggested for Lisa's doll. In the end she went for Lisa Lionheart.

WE'RE SENDING OUR LOVE DOWN THE WELL - Song recorded by several celebs in order to help when the fictitious Timmy O'Toole was stuck down a Springfield well. It was eventually replaced at the top of the charts by "I Do Believe We're Naked" by Funky C Funky Do. The celebrity group included: Troy McClure; Scott Christian; Stephanie the weather lady; Bleeding Gums Murphy; Mayor Quimby; Krusty; Princess Kashmir; Sting; Sideshow Mel; McBain; Dr Marvin Monroe; Captain Lance Murdoch and the Capital City Goofball.

WESLEY - Name of one of Cletus' many kids.

WEST SPRINGFIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - School where Lisa ended-up after Mr Teeny gave her a lift.

WET CEMENT - The second sweetest danger sign, according to Bart, with the best sign being "High Voltage".

WET T-SHIRT MONTH - Appetising event held at Juggernauts.

WHACKING DAY - A day in which Springfield residents drive Snakes into the centre of town and whack them to death. With the help of the late Barry White, this tradition soon stopped.

WHAT'S THAT ODOUR? - Car game played by Bart and Lisa, more often than not, it turns out to be Homer's feet.

WHEATIES - Breakfast cereal endorsed by Courtney Love.

WHERE'S WALDO - Springfield's answer to Where's Wally.

WHIRLWIND - Dog that Barney bet on one Christmas Eve. He won as well!

WICKED EXCESS - Store in the Springfield Mall.

WILD ANIMAL KINGDOM - Where Homer once took the kids and had a near-fatal run-in with a rhino. The motto of the park is "Born free, then caged".

WILFRED BRIMLEY IN THE ANGINA MONOLOGUES - One of the many shows that one can see in Branson.

WILL THERE EVER BE A RAINBOW? - Name of Mr Burns' autobiography.

WILLIE - The school's groundskeeper. A Scotsman (he wears a skirt and looks like an idiot). In a past Halloween episode, he has portrayed Freddy Krueger and killed the school's kids.

WIRED - Magazine read by Lisa.

WITHSTANDINATOR - Bomb shelter that saved Homer's life after Springfield was 'nuked by France.

WKOMA - Official radio station of Rancho Relaxo.

WOLFGUY JACK - Owner of 50's nostalgia restaurant Grease's Cafe, where Homer won his motorbike from.

WOMB - Radio station that plays Itchy & Scratchy.

WOO HOO - Phrase of delight used by Homer Simpson.

WOODROW - Alias taken on by Bart Simpson when playing an awful trick on Mrs Krabappel. Bart answered Mrs Krabappel's personal add pretending to be Woodrow, and ended up breaking Mrs Krabappel's heart.

WORLD CLASS WRESTLING - TV sport enjoyed by Bart, Milhouse, Louis, Richard and sometimes by Lisa. It's held at the Springfield Center For The Performing Arts.

WORLD SERIES OF COCKFIGHTING - Shown on cable, live from New Orleans.

WORLD'S DEADLIEST EXECUTIONS - Program on Fox, from the producers of When Skirts Fall Off, and Secrets Of National Security Revealed. Snake once featured.

WORLD'S LARGEST TOILET - Situated somewhere between Springfield and Bloodbath Gulch Ghost Town.

WORKER & PARASITE - Eastern Europe's favourite cat and mouse team - according to Krusty.

WORKER OF THE WEEK - An award at the Power Plant that, due to Union Rule 26, every worker must win. Homer was once beaten to this accolade by a carbon rod.

WORST WESTERN HOTEL - Once visited by Roger Meyers Junior.

WRECK OF THE HESPERUS - One of the many initiation rituals performed by the Stonecutters.

WUVS - Brand of nappy used by the Nahasapeemapetilons.
